+ Symton® compost-grade black soldier fly larvae allow you to increase the quality and decomposition rate of your compost pile.
+ Unlike our live feeder larvae, compost BSFL are shipped to you in their early larval stage, and are not mature enough for use as animal feed due to their small size.
+ Compost-grade larvae are offered in higher quantities to expedite the BSF effect on composting, leading to a noticeable change in your compost in less time.

WINTER 2026 UPDATE: Heat packs are highly recommended for delivery in areas experiencing low temperatures. Live arrival guarantee will only be honored if heat pack(s) have been added to order.

Lovely little compost eaters!

This little guys gobbled up our kitchen scraps! They are amazing! We brought some inside since the weather has turned cold, and 1 emerged! Fingers crossed for babies!

Very good service and fast shipping. USPS delayed the shipment by a week but they were still healthy when they arrived. We look forward to ordering more in the spring.

Great young BSF

Communication via emails where great. I placed my order early in the day, the order shipped same day. The young BSF arrived in great condition in a small 16oz container and went to town in my container immediately. Picture is taken after 5 days of having them. They arrived 1/8th or so in size and are extremely active. Thanks again

BSF for Composting...

I'm very happy with my order. I found a source of expired organic produce and these guys chew through it a lot faster than the worms do. They seem to cohabitate pretty well in my worm bin with red wigglers, but the BSF is dominate for sure. I have BSF that show up naturally in Oklahoma, but it's late summer before they are here, so I got a head start and ordered them in Spring. Also, they seem to thrive in thermal compost. My worm bins were steamy hot and the worms were escaping to the cardboard(topdress) while the BSF were having a party. One container of BSF filled my 2.67 cubic yard worm bin in less than 2 weeks.

Great for chewing through food scraps

They love overripe cucumbers, rotting tomatoes and any other food scraps I throw at them. They definitely require a lot of food for the numbers you get. If you have a lot of garden waste or a big family, these are great. Just pulling a few out here and there for my gecko.

Watch 'em GROW!

Compost, compost, compost,! They grow so fast and they eat everything everything! All that leftover pet food husband food it will be great to see within my lifetime more cold hardy breeds that can start earlier the same way honey bees are domesticated! What a magical little animal! It will be so nice when the adults are flying around up here in New England but that'll take another month or so. Hey, symptom- do you have any plans to start a facility up here? I could change careers:-)

Exceptional larvae

Absolutely love these compost larvae. They were live and wiggling to my joy. My chickens will be feasting soon!

Great larvae!

Fantastic way to seed your soldier fly farm. We have been raising them for about 5 years and a bump in the larvae population kicks the spring population up and helps eliminate flys around livestock.

Great service

BSFL arrived quickly and in good condition. Excellent customer service, they threw in a free heat pack just to ensure my BSFL arrived alive.

Quality flies

These little fellers are too damn good at their job that what I think'll feed em for a good couple of days barely makes it to sundown!
